How to Start a Session

This guide walks you through creating a live training session, connecting trainees, and managing the session lifecycle.

Create a new session

  1. Log in to the trainer app at trainer.simuvital.com
  2. From the dashboard, tap Start Session
  3. A new session is created with a unique join code and QR code

Share the join code with trainees

You have two ways to connect trainees:

  • QR code — Display it on a projector or share your screen. Trainees scan it with their phone camera.
  • Join code — Dictate the 6-character code. Trainees enter it manually at the join URL.

Both methods work without any app download or login on the trainee side.

Monitor connected trainees

Once trainees join, you will see:

  • The number of currently connected trainees
  • Each trainee’s name and connection status
  • A real-time indicator showing connection health

Control vital signs during the session

From the trainer console, you can adjust four vital signs in real-time:

Vital SignRangeDefault
Heart rate0–300 bpm75 bpm
SpO20–100%98%
Blood pressure0/0–300/200 mmHg120/80 mmHg
Respiratory rate0–60 breaths/min16 breaths/min

Changes appear instantly on all connected trainee screens.

Apply a scenario

Instead of adjusting metrics individually, you can apply a pre-built scenario:

  1. Open the Scenarios panel
  2. Select a scenario from your library (or use a default one)
  3. Tap Apply — all metrics update at once

See Create a Scenario for details on building custom scenarios.

Trigger alarms

Trigger clinical alarms to test trainee response:

  • Respiratory alarm — flashing lung icon with audio
  • Cardiac alarm — flashing heart icon with audio
  • Dysglycemia alarm — distinct audio pattern
  • Massive hemorrhage — visual and audio alert
  • Loss of consciousness — distinct audio pattern

Trainees receive visual overlays, audio alerts, and vibration feedback on their devices.

End or suspend a session

  • Suspend — Pauses the session. Trainees see a waiting room. You can resume later.
  • End — Closes the session permanently. Trainees see a session-ended screen.

Sessions automatically end after 12 hours of inactivity.
