Trainee App Reference

The trainee app displays real-time vital signs controlled by the trainer. No account or download required — just a browser and the session code.

Join flow

Scan QR code

1. Open your phone camera
2. Point it at the QR code displayed by the trainer
3. Tap the link that appears
4. Enter your name and tap Join

Enter join code

1. Open your browser and go to the trainee URL
2. Enter the 6-character session code
3. Enter your name and tap Join

No login, no app install, no personal information required beyond a display name.

Vitals display

Once connected, you see a four-quadrant layout showing real-time vital signs:

Cardiac quadrant (top-left)

• Heart rate in bpm
• Visual heart rate indicator
• Updates in real-time as the trainer adjusts values

Respiratory quadrant (top-right)

• SpO2 percentage
• Respiratory rate in breaths/min
• Updates in real-time

Glycemia quadrant (bottom-left)

• Blood glucose related indicators
• Dysglycemia alarm feedback

Hemorrhage / Loss of consciousness quadrant (bottom-right)

• Blood pressure (systolic/diastolic)
• Hemorrhage and LOC alarm indicators

Each metric shows a small dot indicator when a value changes, so you know which readings were recently updated.

Alarm feedback

When the trainer triggers alarms, trainees receive multi-sensory feedback:

Visual feedback

• Full-screen or partial overlays indicating the alarm type
• Flashing icons specific to each alarm (lung, heart, etc.)
• Color-coded indicators for alarm severity

Audio feedback

• Distinct alarm tones for each alarm type
• Respiratory and cardiac alarms have their own audio patterns
• Dysglycemia and loss of consciousness use differentiated sounds

Vibration feedback

• Device vibration when alarms are triggered (on supported devices)
• Provides tactile awareness even when the screen is not visible

Multiple alarms can be active at the same time, each with its own visual and audio indicators.

Connection status

A connection status indicator shows your current state:

SimuVital automatically attempts to reconnect if the connection drops. During brief disconnections, the last known vital signs remain displayed.

Waiting room

If the trainer suspends the session, you will see a waiting room screen. The session will resume automatically when the trainer reactivates it — no action needed on your end.

Session end

When the trainer ends the session, you see a session-ended screen. No further interaction is possible. Close the browser tab to exit.
